Der Healthy Streets ist ein ganzheitlicher Ansatz zur systematische Bewertung und Verbesserung gesundheitsförderlicher Qualitäten von Straßen im Ortsgebiet, die zum Gehen, Radfahren und Verweilen einladen. Der Ansatz wurde von Lucy Saunders von Healthy Streets Ldt. entwickelt und wurde international (z.B. London, Barcelona, Budapest) angewandt. Erste Projekte in Österreich sind davon bereits inspiriert.
Vor allem für kommunale Entscheidungsträger:innen aus Politik und Verwaltung sowie Verkehrs-, Landschafts- und Stadtplaner:innen sind folgende drei Online-Trainings im Herbst 2023 - mit Lucy Saunders, in Englischer Sprache - interessant:
- Healthy Streets Fundamentals (23.10. - 6.11.2023) - 3 Termine zu je 2 Stunden für einen ersten Überblick
- Healthy Streets Foundation training (15.9. - 26.10.2023) - Intensivkurs für Entscheidungsträger:innen in Städten und Gemeinden in 6 Modulen zu je 1,5 Tagen und praktische Übungen (Eigenstudium)
- Healthy Streets Design Check training (15.9. - 16.10.2023) - Intensivkurs an 6 Terminen zu je 2 Stunden und praktische Übungen (Eigenstudium) zur quantitativen Erhebung im Vorfeld von Straßenumgestaltungen
(1) Healthy Streets Fundamentals (Oct 23rd - Nov 6th, 2023)
Three 2-hour seminars delivered over 3 weeks covering the basic fundamentals of the Healthy Streets Approach
- Seminar 1 – Monday October 23rd 13:30-15:30 BST (UTC+1): This session covers the origins of Healthy Streets, introduces each of the 10 Healthy Streets Indicators and the Healthy Streets Qualitative Assessment tool.
- Seminar 2 – Monday October 30th 13:30-15:30 GMT (UTC+0): This session covers the importance of framing and communications in delivering change to how streets are designed, managed and used.
- Seminar 3 – Monday November 6th 13:30-15:30 GMT (UTC+0): This session looks at how the Healthy Streets Indicators can be measured quantitatively including the Healthy Streets Design Check and the Healthy Streets Index. It also covers how projects can be evaluated using the Healthy Streets Evaluation Framework.

(2) Healthy Streets Foundation training (Sept. 15th - Oct. 26th, 2023)
Six 2-hour seminars and six 1-hour tutorials plus preparation tasks covering the basic fundamentals of the Healthy Streets Approach.

(3) Healthy Streets Design Check training (Sept. 15th - Oct. 16th, 2023)
Six 2-hour seminars delivered over five weeks plus completion and review of Design Checks and preparation of a presentation in. The Healthy Streets Design Check is one in a suite of tools for implementing and evaluating the Healthy Streets Approach. This quantitative tool is for designers and engineers to accurately assess street designs against the 10 Healthy Streets Indicators and develop designs that maximise the Healthy Streets score. The Design Check has been developed for England, Budapest, Australia and New Zealand. This tool can be applied to any street or design. It can be used throughout the design process including: to develop project specification; to audit or raise designers’ performance; to evaluate project impact; and to communicate design quality.
